 "Using the Canon EOS450D" 2010-03-11
By A. C. Clark (London UK)
I like the way I pick up and naturally take the camera into town on business trips and stop and take pictures of buildings, people, and things happening. It has a foolproof automatic setting for those that want such things, frames pictures well, is remarkably quick to wake up from switch on, and usually gets a usable result in bad lighting conditions. Controls are very well placed so rarely confused. Still lots to explore but I do like this camera.

 "You don't get a memory card" 2010-02-26
By C. X. Linton-Willoughby (UK)
Page 31 of the Instruction Manual (the page headed 'Installing and removing the Card') begins "The captured image is recorded onto the card (sold separately)."

So, the memory card is not missing from the camera.

"CANON 450D TWIN LENS KIT" 2010-02-05
By M. Funnell
Having owned a Canon film SLR - I knew i would have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the digital world . Having done a lot of background reading , i decided this was the ideal model to start with for the money . It really is idiot proof and easy to handle and understand . Although would advise getting "Canon 450d for dummies " as the best instruction book --its fantastic and will help you get the best from your camera --the small camera instruction book is woefully inadequate ! Brilliant camera from the ever reliable Canon !!! You'll wonder how you managed without it !!

 "My First EOS" 2010-02-02
By Mr. Luke Timms (England UK)
This camera is great, its my first "proper" camera and I am impressed! Once I got used to the menu system and how to switch between modes I was away as a novice user. Then moving along to more advanced settings was a great trial and error method, which is obviously the beauty of digital cameras, you can capture, view and try again.

I have taken this camera and lenses to Africa for Safari and have some AMAZING photos that I am very proud of. Most of the hard work was done by the camera, I merely pointed, set the correct white balance and fired away.

I did a lot of research before buying this camera and it came out tops for what I was after, I highly recommend this camera and lens for anyone starting off with Digital SLR cameras. I use it practically daily!

The extra chunk of cash for the lens pack was also worth it as its both a good lens and cheaper bundled like this. Yes you can get other makes cheaper, but I don't feel they are of the same quality as a Canon made one.

Overall a good buy and I'm very glad this is now part of my life!

"So much for a medium price." 2009-11-10
By RIK (Dudley, UK)
All I can say is this camera is fantastic. I have come through the ranks using various SLR's, onto digital compacts upon which I reached their limits and so last March bit the bullet and invested in an EOS 450d, I also purchased the 250mm lens and a couple of filters (based upon my original SLR uses). From opening the box this camera has done nothing more than deliver high quality and excellent shots. The manual provided is very basic and does not delve too much onto the complete spread of functions and utilities, however for a new user those type of functions may make it seem as being too complex to use and so I think Canon have given us a good compromise. The size, weight and feel of the camera lend you to knowing you have a serious piece of kit without being too heavy, cumbersome or uncomfortable, I have taken it abroad a few times this year and it certainly does not take up too much space, even with tripods and other items. I specialise in Landscape and Portrait photography and this year with this camera things have turned around, the battery life is incredible and even in high resolution mode depending on the size of memory card you use you have at hand the potential to shoot over 1000 images and more quite comfortably without the need of worrying about space to store them. I took some images of some sunsets and using the 250mm lens managed to get full frame, pin sharp, sunshots, and with the use of a couple of filters the results were quite simply stunning. I am by no means an accomplished photographer and found that to get these shots I had to delve into the further functions of the camera but the results were well worth the effort and I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience taking them. I was a little concerned as to whether the 250mm lens would be up to my expectations and since my old SLR had a 500mm lens I did not think that this new unit would in any way compare, oh how wrong I was, although the lens comes with the image stability function I still reverted to making sure I had a suitable mount to take my images and it was no problem at all for this unit, in fact I find myself now taking more pictures on the fly rather than hoping to be in the right place at the right time to grab an image. To date and over 6 months down the line I still enthuse about this camera and am in fact considering purchasing the newer version only because of the higher pixel range, but, in all honesty I can see me sticking with this unit for a few years yet and it will be hard to part with it. Those that have seen my images are extremely impressed and when you talk to people about the camera they know you are serious as soon as you mention the name. So if you you are a budding enthusiast wanting more bang to the buck then this unit is ideal. Even if you find that your digital compact leaves you wanting more then this is the ideal camera, and if you are a die hard film SLR buff and you really do not want to change then I seriously urge you to reconsider, this camera gives you all of the advantages of an SLR and a whole lot more plus you are getting up to date using a classic and as yet proven method of image taking. Because Canon have now released a newer version the prices are now falling slightly and so make it an even more viable purchase and investment, whether you are into general photography or specialise in a certain field this unit can handle it quite easily, from amateur to pro, it is up to you. For me, it is probably one of my better choices of purchase this year and cannot wait to get to use it again. A final note, the camera comes with an excellent software suite that gives you plenty of flexibility to enhance change, recolour or whatever it is you fancy with the final image. I am a Photoshop user and to date have not had to make any image adjustments to any shot taken, that in itself speaks volumes in saving time and getting the final image printed. I could go on a lot more about it, and yes I am biased about this unit, I try but cannot find fault with it, and it saddens me in so far as that my old SLR film days are long gone, the equipment, well, it is all boxed in the loft gathering dust and I will probably never use it again, maybe when the grand kids ask what we used to use and I will have them to show but that is about it. A shame yes, but technology has now caught up and leaves my old film days a remnant of the past. Still the upshot being that I no longer have to pay for developement or printing so it may in the end pay for itself that way.
