This is an outstanding Camera. I spent time trying to work out if the NIKON D90 or this would meet my needs and I am more than pleased with my choice. The additional couple of frames per second make all the difference to getting those stunning action and wildlife shots. The 18-200 lens is a perfect all round lens. Ordering through Amazon was easy and delivery came spot on time. I cant recommend this more highly!

As a loyal Canon user I would recommend this camera on nearly every point. It's brilliant to hold - although heavy, it feels so comfortable and well built that you don't notice the weight. The extra ISA settings - up to 3200 - combined with the lens Image Stabilisation, make it excellent for hand held shots in low light, something I need to do a lot. Noise is not really a problem. My chief gripe with the camera is the auto white balance, which certainly can't cope with a room lit by energy saving light bulbs and renders everything lurid lemon yellow. I almost wonder if this is a fault on mine alone, as it is so extreme. I usually adjust white balance in Photoshop, and regret I haven't yet worked out how to do the manual white balance settings.
The lens is, as others have complained, prone to creep in or out under its own weight, but I've been used to that - my old one was worse. Slightly embarrassing when you're walking along trying not to look pretentious! However no reviewer has mentioned the extreme curvature of straight lines at wide angle settings. My old Tamron lens, also 18-200, was much better at correcting that (but didnt have IS). Wish I could have the best of both worlds in one lens.

Camera is solid in looks and feel. The added 200mm image stablising lens is fantastic, allowing you to get up really close to distant objects, whilst starting at 18mm it proves itself as being very versitile.
6.3 fps allows you to capture almost anything in great detail, I've got great photo's of dolphins, from about 30mtrs away, jumping full loops, you get no lag at all from the moment you press the shutter.
The 3" display is exceptionaly clear and the menu is surprisingly easy to navigate.
All buttons are solid and easy to press.
The built in flash is very capable but they will always have their limitations, serious photographers will know the need for a dedicated unit. You won't go wrong with the speedlite 430ex.
You do get canon photo editing software with the camera however I haven't managed to get my head round it, not that I'd mark the camera down for that, I prefer photoshop but each to their own, as they say.
I've been very happy with my 50d and would recommend it to anyone. I know my review is brief and doesn't cover all aspects but if it did you would be reading forever. All I can say is give it a go I'm sure you won't be disappointed

I think this is an excellent camera - at least judging by its description. I have had to send two of them back as the CMOS chip was damaged, and individual pixels were broken. Maybe this whole batch is faulty - definitely something Amazon should look into.
I am trying again - third time lucky... :)
