This is my second Nikon SLR (had a D70 before). Fantastic camera - esp. good with 35mm f1.8 Nikkor lens.
It's a bit heavy, but provided that doesn't put you off, there is nothing to complain about this camera.

Unless you can afford full frame this is the camera to buy. I own both this and the Canon 7D and the Nikon D300s is the better camera in my opinion. Faultless AF and metering and exceptionally fast. Do not skimp on cheap glass. Yes it is pricey but it is worth every penny. Exceptional.

This is the best D-SLR 'cropped' sensor digital camera you can buy reason being because of the Nikon D-SLR lens available. The Canon which is catching up on available light photography (noise free high ISO) and focus points does not have the lenses to compete. If you do buy this camera do not skimp on a lens and I would recommend the 17-55mm DX which whilst heavy and expensive gives you pro-results and a beautiful 3d look due to the smooth blurring 'bokeh'.

This isn't a cheap camera and it's not for beginners, but if you're serious about photography then this is an excellent investment.
Pictures come out beautifully with a stunning level of detail and the camera performs well in all lights. Amazing soft focus pictures make everyone look gorgeous and the black and white and sepia pictures come out lovely. Great for landscape pictures, close ups, portraits and basically everything you would want to take photos of. Colours come out incredibly vibrant and striking.
Handily there are also dedicated books you can buy to help you get the most of this camera, so if you aren't sure where to begin you can be reassured that you will be able to find the answers.
