After years without a decent camera (my last being a mid-80's Minolta film SLR), I was delighted to start using this little DSLR. It's quite simply delightful to use. It's small without being fiddly and has a wonderful feel in the hand. It's controls are simple, and it doesn't take too much time to learn the various menus and symbols. I'm also simply surprised by how easy it is to use: to change settings very quickly, to hold and shoot, and to access its components (SD card, for example).
It's been a joy to use, and a great introduction to digital photography for me.

The D60 is a great camera, giving a novice the ability to learn and progress to pro i think. It is great at point and shoot on auto and you can do even better with the program modes. Flash does let it down, but only because i have a flash gun which improves the shots even more. Shots are clear, very sharp, and the colours are picked up very well, if you are just starting up with slr i would recommend this to you

Before I got my Nikon d60, I used pocket cameras from Kodak and Panasonic and often borrowed Canon SLR camera, they are great cameras, but Nikon D60 is absolutely the greatest, I mean a superb camera. This camera is pretty comfortable in the hand and it has simple visual display and easy menus to navigate. I am a newbie myself but I find it very easy to operate it, just point and shot when I use the Auto mode. I learnt to use the other modes, they are easy to learn too. What about the pictures?? Oh.. don't worry about it, D60 really delivers vibrant colours and very sharp pictures. It has great dynamic range as well. just unbelievable, it is also very amazing for night shot, the noise is almost invisible. It's a really funbloodytastic camera, I absolutely love it :D. Newbie? just grab it, don't waste your time before its price raises ( I am afraid it has)!!

I wont go into mind numbing specifications of this camera but I migrated to this camera from a Casio Exilim digital camera. I was also using a Canon 350D SLR that my wife has had for a while and have used a few Nikon Film SLR's in the past.
Quite simply this is an amazing camera. The kit lens is great quality and very sharp. I further enhanced mine by purchasing a 70-300mm telephoto lens and 90mm macro lens. I've used it a lot and its never let me down, and has been a wonderful travel companion. 10mp is more than enough and I cannot see the difference between this camera and my friends D90 which is £250 more expensive.
What I will say is that most lenses will not autofocus on this camera due to the lack of built in mechanism. You simply have to pay through the nose for Nikon AF-S lenses, or third party lenses with motors built in. Or you can use lenses in MF. Up to you.
Get this camera. There is no better in this price range.

i brought this as i am on a photography course and needed a good quality camera, afte my canon broke, the pictures and settings are fantatsic much better than the canon comparison, the lens it a bit awkward to attach but once its connected its fabulous and i am taking some pretty amazing photos so far.
